Brief History
January 1979 Established as Jeonju Woosuk Women's College by the late Dr Suh Jeong-Sang
October 1980 Converted to a co-ed college and renamed as Jeonju Woosuk College
December 1982 Relocated from the Dongsan Campus to the present Samnye Campus
November 1986 Established the Graduate School of Education
March 1992 Upgraded as a university and renamed as Jeonju Woosuk University
October 1995 Renamed as Woosuk University
October 2000 Dr Suh Chang-Hoon inaugurated as Chairperson of the Board of Governors
February 2004 The Industry-University Partnership Service established
August 2004 "WellTech Woosuk 2010+", the short- and long-term university development projection, announced
September 2004 Established in China the Korea-China Joint College of International Economy and Trade as the first venture of its kind
May 2007 Dr Ra Jong-Yil inaugurated as the tenth President
June 2007 The Community-University Partnership Programme launched
November 2007 The Institute of Korean Studies established
January 2008 Concluded with the Asia-Europe Foundation a Memorandum of Understanding for the establishment of the ASEM (Asia-Europe Meeting) School of International Studies
February 2009 Established the College of Food Science, as the first-ever of its kind in Korea
March 2014 Established Jincheon Campus, Located in Chungcheongbuk-do
March 2014 Selected as a managing organizationof ABT(Active Brain Tower)
June 2014 Selected as a managing organization of CK(University for Creative Korea)
May 2015 Selected as LINC (Leaders in Industry/University Cooperation Program) for industry/academic cooperation
August 2015 Earned "A Grade" on MoE University Restructuring Assessment
February 2017 Selected as the Korea Student Aid Foundation's Project for Employment Prospects of University Graduates (part of the National Work-Study Scholarship Program)
June 2017 Selected as Work Experience Certification Authority for Educational Donation
